This is a small world that I built in Creative mode last month. It's based around a small village on an isolated island. There are houses belonging to several people directly on the island, and together they create all the resources necessary for life. A few of the villagers mine for iron and gemstones that are used to create tools and weapons. One villager farms a variety of crops, while another herds sheep. Although several people on the island fish near the harbor, one of them spends almost all their time at sea, and has reaped significant benefits from their conquest of the strange creature who live beneath the waves. High up on the central mountain of the island there lives a powerful and somewhat reclusive mage, who helps the villagers with enchantment, and, if necessary, with defense. This mage is the one who in times of crisis climbs the peak bubbling with lava, and calls on some ancient spirit or god to cast fire on the enemies of the island. The day portrayed here is one where the villagers wonder if they will need to call on this power. A ways off the coast, they spot a massive ship cutting through the water in their general direction at an alarming speed. This ship carries dozens of elite soldiers sworn to a far away kingdom, and their young captain eager to prove themself. In the belly of the ship, the soldiers transport a never before seen beast of immense power. As they come upon this island, they think nothing of it, until they are close enough to notice the fortifications. this spot of ocean is well into their own territory; there hasn't been fighting there for hundreds of years.
217 years ago, a battle raged around an island that had never known war. Troops from both sides had been landed on the tiny rock, and arrows and mortars flew in all directions. The natives of the island were caught in the crossfire, and were sure they were doomed. For some reason, out of all the turmoil in the universe, something powerful decided it would be here and now that it would protect someone, and so fire rained down upon both sides of the conflict, not just on the island, but over the whole sea. The sunken ships of the two great empires still reside at the bottom, and the ruins of fortifications still dot the landscape. But on this island there are no ruins. The people here resolved that they would never be attacked again, and so they not only cut themselves off from the rest of the world, but they armed themselves. And for 217 years, they met only small lost trade ships. But now they see a warship, bigger than any they've seen before, and all they can ask themselves, is "has war come to us again?".
